Planning for the future - The Rejuvenation Fund

Silloth Market has been established for over 30 years and has become a major tourist attraction bringing many thousands of visitors to the area each week.

The airfield has proved to be an ideal site to hold an event of this size and has served us well, unfortunately the popularity of this event and the overwhelming traffic it attrracts together with the affect of recent servere winters has caused the entrances and walkways to seriuosly deteriate, to secure your continued enjoyment of this event we must undertake a major upgrade of these areas together with toilet and dissabled facilities.

This project will require a large investment, our income is from trader rents which are in turn used to cover daily running costs including staffing, site managment, traffic control and site clensing, advertising, toilet facilities and general maintainence, attempting to manage a project of this size by diverting a portion of these funds would cause delays and would not be without affect to curent trading.

In deciding the most efficient way to raise funds whilst ensuring the least affect on traders and public two options became apparent, unlike other similer events we make no charge on parking or car boot entry, it was decided a temporary charge of 50p per car would make a significant difference in enabeling nessessary works to be carried out and also have the least affect on customers by spreading the cost more finely, the temporary charge will be made at peak times (unlikely in bad weather) and not on bank holiday Mondays.

We thank you for your continued support and hope you will be enjoying the upgraded facilities as soon as possible.
